Innsbruck

The capital of Tyrol surrounded by the Alps, Innsbruck combines imperial heritage with an intense winter atmosphere. The baroque old town houses the Golden Roof, a Renaissance masterpiece of the Habsburgs, along with several museums dedicated to art and Alpine history. In winter, Christmas markets animate the city center squares, while an outdoor skating rink offers views of the surrounding peaks. Cable cars directly connect the city to the ski areas of Nordkette and Patscherkofel, complemented by snowshoe trails and winter hiking paths. Having hosted the Winter Olympics twice, Innsbruck maintains sports facilities still in active use.
